Springview Elementary’s Safety Procedures
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
Miami-Dade County Public Schools has mandated a Safety and Critical Incident Committee at each school site. The committee’s purpose is to discuss and implement guidelines to keep our students safe in the event of an emergency. As a result, the following are some of the precautions that will be taken at Springview Elementary:
All students are to be dropped off at the hard court by 8:30 A.M. There are staff members supervising students beginning at 7:50 A.M.
All students who arrive to school by car must be dropped off on Bluebird Avenue by the hard court area. Afternoon parent pickup is on Partridge Avenue. Cars and buses CANNOT be together. It’s the LAW!
In addition, children may NOT be dropped off or picked up inside the teacher parking lots.
All Parents/Guardians must register at the office as a visitor before going to any classroom or the cafeteria. Visitor stickers will be issued to help us identify adults in the building.
We have security monitors working at Springview. They can easily be identified with a green security shirt and a walkie-talkie. Monitors are here from 7:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. These shifts start early and end late for the safety of our Before and After Care Students.
The school will be holding emergency drills in addition to the fire and tornado drills that are conducted throughout the year.
“Code Red” is the emergency code being used in all Miami-Dade County Public Schools. When this is announced, teachers are to lock all doors and windows. Lights are turned off and students are kept away from any doors or windows. If students are in the hallways, they are to report to the closest room. If students are in the cafeteria, the lights will be flashed.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in helping keep Springview Elementary School a safe place for everyone. |
